What about the free Essentials Starter plan?

Essentials Starter is free and has no trial period. You sign up with the work email you already use, so your email stays where it is. Each person gets 15 GB of Drive storage, and up to 100 people can share one team account. It’s a good fit if you only want Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Meet alongside Outlook or another email host.

Frequently asked questions

Which Google Workspace plan is best for a small business?

For most small teams it's Business Standard at $14 per user per month. You get 2 TB of pooled storage per user, Meet recording, and Gemini in Docs, Sheets, Meet, and Drive. If you mostly need email and calendars and store little, Business Starter at $7 is enough.

Is there a free Google Workspace plan?

Yes, Google Workspace Essentials Starter costs nothing. You sign up with the work email you already have, and you get Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, and Chat with 15 GB of storage per user. It doesn't give you Gmail at your own domain.

When do I need Business Plus instead of Business Standard?

When you need Vault to retain and search email and files, eDiscovery, Secure LDAP, or advanced endpoint management. Plus also raises storage to 5 TB per user and Meet calls to 500 participants.

When should I look at Enterprise?

When you have more than 300 users, or you need data loss prevention, context-aware access, or Meet calls with up to 1,000 people. Business plans stop at 300 users, and Enterprise pricing comes from Google's sales team.
