For years, Google has offered iOS apps for Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and more. However, until recently, the Gmail app had not been updated since December 4, 2012.
On November 7, 2016, Google announced a new Gmail app for iOS. The Google Calendar app was also updated.
New Gmail App for iOS
The view of the inbox has been improved. It offers:
- An updated menu bar and icons
- A larger, more easily readable font
- Round avatars
- A floating Compose button
Feature updates include:
- The ability to undo Send, as can be done on the desktop
- Faster search with instant results and spelling suggestions
- Swipe to archive or delete a message

Updated G Suite Calendar App for iOS
A key new feature is the ability to see Month view and week in landscape view. Landscape view also makes it easier to view a combined work and personal calendar, which G Suite customers can easily set up.
Apple’s Spotlight Search can now be used to find events, Reminders and Goals in Google Calendar.
