What is Google Opal?

Google Opal was launched in public beta in the U.S. in late July 2025 and was made available to Google Workspace accounts with early access enabled.

Opal was built with Breadboard. Breadboard is an open-source project created by Google employee Dimitri Glazkov.

Opal is positioned as an AI mini-app builder. Users can build mini-apps with a combination of natural language and visual editing.

The builder’s current visual objects are:

Users can either remix (clone) existing gallery apps or create new ones from scratch.
