Selling Power Magazine has just reported that worldwide CRM software revenue in 2007 grew to $8.1 billion in 2007. This is according to Gartner, the world's largest technology research and analysis firm. That's a significant 23.1 percent increase from 2006 revenues of $6.6 billion, and likely the highest growth rate ever achieved by a mature software technology. Such rapid market growth is unusual under any circumstances, but it's almost unheard of during a period of economic decline. Gartner also noted that vendors offering both SaaS (Software as a Service) and on-premise solutions continue to acquire new customers. Although software sold primarily for use in sales organizations represented the largest contributor to SaaS revenue, Gartner noted that demand increased for marketing automation, customer service, and other support solutions.
