Leasing Options for CRM Buyers

Leasing CRM Software, Hardware and Services

For companies that are looking to own their CRM software, but that would like to spread out the payments over time, leasing is an option worth considering.  While leasing has been traditionally associated with equipment acquisition, there is a class of leasing company that will bundle CRM or email marketing software, server hardware, and implementation services all into a single monthly payment. One of those companies is Blue Street Capital.

Benefits to Leasing CRM Software vs. Renting CRM Software

A major benefit to leasing software rather than renting CRM software or email marketing software is that while rental payments are perpetual, with a lease, the majority of payments will disappear at the end of the lease term.

Payments outside the lease are, 1) annual software maintenance and technical support fees beyond the first year (normally around 20% of the original total software price) and 2) any additional consulting services such as additional customizations and integrations.

Another benefit to leasing is while that with rented software, the implementation services have to be paid up front, with a lease, the initial services payments are also spread out over the term of the lease.  The lease term can range from two to five years.

How Much Can Be Leased

Leasing companies that lease CRM software and services can finance a total amount up to $1M -- in some cases a personal guarantee is required for amounts over $100K.  In addition, a leasing company wants the services amount leased to be less than or equal to the price of the software.

A sample CRM package might be: $30K in CRM software, a $4K server and $30K in CRM consulting services.

Take whatever the total number is for the purchase you are considering and plug it into a lease calculator in order to find out the amount of the monthly payments.
